We travel to the second largest mountain lake in the world, called Yssuk K\u00f6l. Despite the fact that it is surrounded by snow-capped mountain peaks, the lake never freezes, which is why it got the Kyrgyz name \u2018Yssuk K\u00f6l\u2019, which means \u2018warm lake\u2019. A good opportunity for a nature swim.<br \/>\nWe visit Jeti \u00d6g\u00fcz and another highlight of the trip is the gorgeous plain of Song K\u00f6l Lake, which we will reach after a mountain pass and lies at 3016m.<br \/>\nThis is Kyrgyzstan pur sang and we wild camp between the original yurts on this vast plain, with only some nomads with their animals. In the huge and enormous China we stay the biggest part of our journey through Asia. From Kashgar we reach the Taklamakan desert and the Gobi desert on our way to Beijing, where we among others admire the Forbidden City, Tianmen square and of course the world famous Great Wall is waiting for us. On this route we will find many surprises and unique attractions like f.e. Dunhuang, Jiayuguan, Zhangye and Datong.<\/p>\n<p>Then we slowly wander to the south. Pingyao is the only original preserved city from the Ming and Qing dynasties, Xi\u2019an with the world famous Terra Cotta Army, only discovered since 1974, the Shaolin Temple with the teachings of Kung Fu martial art and of course Chengdu with the endangered Giant Panda, are just a few highlights on our way towards Tibet. Before we reach the Tibetan Plateau we will explore Lijiang, Dali and Shangri La.<br \/>\nVia Deqin we \u2018climb\u2019 slowly at altitude and cross the border into Tibet. Before we reach Lhasa, Xigartse and Gyangtze, we have to overcome 3 \u2018fivethousanders\u2019.<br \/>\nThe breathtaking views and heart-warming Tibetans will make our hearts beat faster. The Mount Everest Base Camp speaks to everybody\u2019s imagination and is not an average usual overnight place to stay.<\/p>\n<p>From there we travel towards the mysterious Mount Kailash, a sacred mountain in western Tibet, sacred to Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism and shamanistic religion of Bon-po. Tajikistan is a very mountainous country, from which half of it lies at an altitude of over 3000 meters.<\/p>\n<p>The eastern part of the country lies in the Pamir, a high mountain area, which includes the mountain Qullai Ismoili Somoni, once the highest mountain of the Soviet Union. Landscape and scenery speaking is Tajikistan a highlight of our journey on the Silk Road. Some places we visit are Karakol, Murghab, Ishkashim and Khorog. These towns are full of beautiful oriental architecture with beautiful minarets, mosques, medresses decorated with turquoise mosaics. Travellers from Europe are being received warmly in Iran by the enthusiastic Iranians.<\/p>\n<p>Travelling through the country, the mighty Persian Empire comes back to life again and Islam has countless beautiful religious buildings with incredible colour splendour in the tiling and mosaics. So enjoy and marvel over all this historical magnificent splendour and beauty. Our route runs from Mashad via Tabaz and ChacChac to Yazd, and then we move further to the southernmost city of this journey, Shiraz.<\/p>\n<p>From here we drive north and visit on our journey among others Isfahan, Abyaneh, Kashan, Qom en Qazvin. It is a long journey of nearly a half year, which requires a thorough preparation from both of us, as well the organisation, as you as a participant.<br \/>\nThe main goal of this journey is not to enjoy a relaxing holiday, but to get to know and experience the wealth and treasures of the nations and cultures of the countries where we will travel through. We are above all travellers. You will get in contact with many different ethnic and nomadic groups, who each have their own way of life. These local people are very friendly, welcoming and curious about you, as well in rural as urban areas.<\/p>\n<p>In the countries we will visit and the areas, where we will be travelling through there is little to none tourism, so that the local people respond spontaneously to the arrival of us as visitors.<\/p>\n<p>You drive this journey with your own vehicle at your own risk.<\/p>\n<h5>TRAVEL ORGANISATION<\/h5>\n<p>To make this overland journey not only to a beautiful adventure, but also organizational to a good result, we use during this journey the guidance of a good and knowledgeable team of highly experienced overland travellers. Not often there can be fulfilled to our Western European expectations and standards and there is usually not a luxury campsite available in these countries. Therefore a journey like this demands a flexible altitude of the participants, a good physical and mental condition and health. As well the vehicles have to be in excellent condition.<\/p>\n<h5>INDIVIDUALLY AND\u00a0 ALSO GUIDED?<\/h5>\n<p>You drive at your own speed and pace. You will receive the <strong>Expedition For Trucks Road-book\u00a9<\/strong> with detailed information and the necessary information on attractions and sights and the GPS coordinates to be able to arrive at the next overnight location. We don\u2019t drive convoy, unless absolutely necessary or when it is obliged by the local governments. You can leave in the morning, whenever it is the most convenient for you and stop as often as you like, to have as much individual freedom as possible. One of the most important ones is that we only travel in small groups; maximum up to 12 vehicles. Further advantages are; always a back-up from fellow travellers and the journey guidance, the sense of security far away from home, supported by experienced guidance, difficult border crossings we always take as a group together and when necessary, with the help of local guides, a safe overnight place and from special value, cosy spontaneous evenings together, to share our experiences and adventures.<\/p>\n<h5>ROUTE AND DAYSCHEDULE<\/h5>\n<p>The route and itinerary are designed with the maximum possible interesting touristic highlights and sites are included on our route. Many are included in the program, others are optional. Of course, we also did take into account the overnight places and we have done our best effort to stay at the most beautiful places and locations. The daily distances range from 75 to 400km per day and are so divided that we have enough time to visit the sights and attractions, to take a break, to do some shopping and to relax. Obviously there are many non driving days, so you will be able to organise your own day. You will receive a road book with the day schedule and lots of tips and information, interesting sights and the overnight location related information and the required GPS coordinates.<\/p>\n<h5>YOUR VEHICLE<\/h5>\n<p>This journey can be made with an average overland vehicle. It is not necessary to have a 4WD, but of course may be very useful, if you have one. However, you must realise that a journey like this is also very heavy for the vehicle. Vehicles with very little bottom \/ ground clearance or an overhang at the back of more than 2 meters, behind the rear axle, cannot participate in this journey. Strong suspensions and very good shock absorbers are a must!<\/p>\n<h5>SAFETY<\/h5>\n<p>Most of the countries which we travel through are both politically and economically rather stable. The crime rate has dropped and the purchasing power of the people is fortunately rising almost everywhere. With our overland vehicles we are at no greater risk as when we are travelling through European countries. We travel through 11 countries and we keep informed during our journey about the security situations in the areas we are going to travel through.<\/p>\n<h5>ROADS<\/h5>\n<p>Most of the roads on our route are asphalted. Only less than 10% of this journey we drive over unpaved roads. Parts of this are sometimes in very bad or poor condition! Often the roads are to be compared with the roads in Europe, sometimes even better. But the asphalt in these countries has often suffered heavily from the high temperatures in the summer and the extreme winter conditions. Large potholes in the roads will not be strange. In the big cities the roads are often crowded and it is just as back home in the traffic jams! In Tibet a few roads lead us over the passes, which lie above 5000m.<\/p>\n<h5>OVERNIGHT STAYS<\/h5>\n<p>We will barely overnight at campsites at this journey, because in the areas we cross, there are none. We will stay at safe overnight places. As far as possible this will be wild camps in free nature and if not possible at hotels, churches, sport complexes or just a parking spot or something similar.
